Outside of the borough in the surrounding country an inspectionwas made of each and every source of water supply on occupied es-tates. Three hundred and nine such supplies were examined, sam-ples were collected and analyzed. Thirty-three per cent, of theseprivate sources were found to contain sewage organisms. At the timethe officer made his first visit to an estate he gave verbal instruc-tions relative to the kind of repairs, alterations, or improvementsprobably necessary and these suggestions were followed out in numer-ous instances.
