Lorraine Gathercole started racing in 1995, initially driving a road going MG Midget, in 2001 Lorraine won the MG Owners Club Championship and the BWRDC Embassy Trophy for the Club Champion. After that, and her marriage to David, she went on to compete in a variety of historic cars from Formula Ford 1600cc and 2000cc to Group 6 Sports Prototypes and a 26R Lotus Elan. Racing highlights for Lorraine was the Classic Le Mans win in 2012 with husband David and the prize for fastest lap by a lady driver at the Goodwood Revival in a Lotus 18 Formula Junior. Lorraine is currently competing in a Lola 212 with an FVC in the Peter Auto CER 1. She is also now rallying a mk1 Escort with a 2 litre BDG achieving a good finish in the 2019 Roger Albert Clark Rally. Outside of competing Lorraine is the Chair of the Motorsport UK Historic Committee where she leads the agenda discussions items offering a competitor, supplier and female viewpoint. In 2017 Lorraine became Chair of the British Women Racing Drivers Club after a 4 year term as Vice Chair, 3 years as Press Officer and 12 years as Club Secretary, and she now looks to increase the profile of the Club and its members during her leadership. The Lola T212 was constructed in 1971 and designed for 2-liter Sports Car, Group 6, Competition. It was given a monocoque chassis and a four-cylinder Ford engine mounted in the rear.
