Nevertheless, it is not to be denied that sections of epidermismay be found in which the India senna may exhibit the largercells. A series of about forty measurements, made by a student inthe school here, .showed that while the larj^cst cells are found in \02 Alexandria and India Senna. { Am. Jour. , 1897. the Alexandria senna, the average size of the cells of the Indiasenna may be somewhat greater than those of the Alexandriasenna. Likewise, the cell walls alone will not serve as a point ofdifferentiation, owing to the same lack of uniformity. As regardsthe shape of the cells, no distinctive value whatever can be placedupon it, owing to the great variability present. The same may alsobe said concerning the arrangement of cells around the hairs. The
