Wind power turbines with Sub Station Control Room, Causeymire wind farm, Caithness, Scotland, UK


Onshore windfarm of 21 turbines at present producing electricity to supply the average needs of over twice the number of homes across the Caithness region. Fully operational in 2004. The generation of this clean electricity will help prevent an annual release of many tonnes of the main greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, which is a major contibutor to global warming and climate change. Site does not pose any major negative environmental impact on landscape and flora and fauna or birds and wildlife. Site is 30 km South West of John O'Groats near Thurso.
