Corson, Plymouth Meeting 349. E. G. Kriebel, Worcester. CHAPTER VII. RELIGIOUS IRST in order of age of the reli-gious denominations of Mont-gomery county is the Societyof Friends. The FriendsWelsh Meeting house at Me-rion was built in 1695 ; Ab-ington, in 1697 ; Gwynedd, in1700; Plymouth, 1712 ; Hors-ham, 1724 ; Upper Provi-dence, 1743 ; Pottstown, 1753; Upper Dub-lin, 1814 ; and Norristown, 1852. Almost contemporaneous with theFriends came the Mennonists or Menno-uites. The history of this denomination isvery scant. Their first meeting house issupposed to have been built in Perkiomentownship about 1725. Five years later Fra-conia and Sal ford meeting houses werebuilt. In 1742, Providence was built ; in175 1, Kulpsville was erected ; and before1812, Methacton and Towamencin churcheswere added to the list. There are nowover a dozen churches in the county
