Alleyway in the ancient village of Bussana Vecchia, Liguria, Italy

This fairly old village situated in Liguria, Italy, just 30 minutes from the sea and only an hour from the French border was partly distroyed by an earthquake on 23/02/1887, leaving the inhabitants no choice than abandoning their homes and move further 3 miles, where they built a newer village called Bussana nuova. Inhabited for decades, Bussana Vecchia was rediscovered by some artists in the 60s that started to slowly move in adn fix the lesast damaged houses. Bussana now hosts an international artists community. They have set their own rules about living within their community. It is a fascinating place to visit and get inspiration from. Artisan shops and some food and accomodation places can be found there.
