Iberian religion. Artwork of a priestess (right) performing a ritual in a cave during the Iberian period. This cave has a spring (in background). A woman is making an offering at left, while another woman cradles a baby and a third woman prays. A man (beside the priestess) is playing musical pipes. Several of the women are wearing gold ornaments. The Iberians were a grouping of pre-Roman Iron Age peoples living in the eastern and southern regions of the Iberian peninsula. It is thought that they arrived in the area in the Neolithic period, from around 5000 BC.
