Tree vigorous and of regular outline; foliage showy; flowers reddish purple. One of the best. $2.(XJ. M. Soulangeana. SOULANGES > C. An- other hybrid raised from seed, at Fromont, near Pai-is. In habit it closely resembles M. conspicua; shrubby and bi-anching while young, but becom- ing a fair-sized tree. Flowers white and purple, cup shaped, and 3 to 5 inches in diameter. Foli- age large, glossy and massive. It forms a hand- some tree worked upon the 3/. acuminata. One of the hardiest and finest of the foreign Magnohas. Blooms later than conspicua. Soxilangeana in growth and foli- age, but the flowers are a little smaller and of a lighter color, fully a week later, and remain in perfect condition upon the tree longer than those of any other Chinese variety.
