Morton 30 83 996 I have purposely omitted the matter of profit because the butter was variously credited at from 40c to 50c per pound when it was not worth an averag-e of 25c in the market that year. This made it possible to figure much profits for the cows than the conditions warranted. In the case of the cheese test, the cheese was actually worth not over 8c per pound, and with 114c as the usual price allowed for the mak- ing, the Guernsey and Jersey cows would have just paid for Digitized by Microsoft®.
