He was a useful and trusted public servant, made so bygentlemanly conduct and excellent judgment, united to many ofthose finer qualities of mind and heart which endeared him to aloving family and a wide circle of friends. Hon. Daniel Gould Walton, Chairman, September, J 882, to January, J 886. Born in South Reading April 25, 1821, died in WakefieldApril 7, 1898, aged seventy-four. Among others,he was a proprietor with George Wheeler for many years of therestaurant in the old station of the Boston & Maine railroad onHaymarket square, Boston, where he is favorably rememberedby the old guard of a generation ago. After retiring fromactive business, his sagacity and uprightness won for him theconfidence and esteem of his fellow citizens to a remarkable de-gree, and he was called upon to settle many estates, and to act inother trust and fiduciary capacities. By careful and judicious in-vestments, he became the largest individual owner of real estatein the business centre of Wakefield. He married Elizabeth Jean-nette Aborn, of
