Edge of a large hedgerow colony of edible Ramsons / Allium ursinum plants where they adjoin the road. The perennial seedlings are about 2-3 years old.

Large colonies of Ramsons take decades the develop. The one in question that this clump of wild garlic comes from is about 100-150 yards long and up a 6ft hedge bank. So it is an old well-established colony. The small seedlings (actually they have small bulbs forming, following seed germination) range from 2-4 inches leaf length, which puts them at several years so you can imagine how long it will take for them to reach the size of the more mature Ramsons towards the top of the picture.
