Spouting oil well. 19th Century image of the Lady Hunter oil well spouting oil 100 feet into the air. This well was struck on 9th October 1874 near Petrolina City, Pennsylvania, USA. The first day of production produced 3000 barrels and it had produced 145,000 barrels by 1st March 1978. Photographed circa 1880.
