All we need now say is thatthe animal was fired at by Mr. Clifford Batten, while sitting over a kill nearMussoorie, at 8 oclock on Monday night and the last time she was heardalive was 4 oclock on Tuesday morning. On Wednesday morning thetigress was found lying dead over half a mile from the place she wasfired at. To quote Mr. Cliftord Batten :— She was struck with a 500 solidbullet (400 grains, 55 grains cordite, low velocity), this passed through herarm breaking the humerus causing a compound fracture, entered herhead above the left eye and passed through the brain, and ultimately cameout of skin on the right side of the neck.
