100th ISS spacewalk. Extravehicular activity (EVA, or spacewalk) being carried out by American astronaut Peggy Whitson (born 1960). Whitson was the first female mission commander at the ISS (International Space Station). This spacewalk, the 100th spacewalk contributing to the ISS's construction, was undertaken in order to isolate and repair the cause of electrical power loss to the ISS's Beta Gimbal Assemblies (BGAs). The BGAs orientate the ISS's solar panels towards the Sun when the ISS changes direction. Photographed on 18th December 2007.
