This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Satellite image of Al Jawf, an oasis town in Libya's Sahara Desert. The town is at top left. Across the image are agricultural plots that are irrigated by central-pivot irrigation systems, giving them a circular shape. The water is pumped from deep fossil water aquifers as the area receives virtually no rainfall. Image obtained by Japan's ALOS satellite on 24th January 2011.
