The walls are ornamentedwith a yellow plinth charged with arabesques, above which thewall is white, with open tabernacle work. Eeed candelabrasupport masks and garlands, and the central panel exhibits aninteresting picture, representing a waxed diptych, with stylus,scraper, a folded and sealed paper, and an ink-bottle and the wiitmg on the letter, it has been conjectured thatthis was the house of the Decurion.*. From the cabinet just mentioned, a walk runs round thegarden, the left and further sides of which were protected by aprojecting roof, beneath which is a wide gutter to receive therain. The angle pier has on its left side a large cantharus,rudely painted on a white ground; the other side, and threesides of adjoining pier, have light arabesques on a white ground.
