I am glad to report that the venture I made in this business only one year and a half ago has proven entirely satisfactory; never before in the history of the seed trade has a business become so well established in so short a time. What usually would have taken years to accomplish we have already suc- ceeded in doing. I have not tried to work a large ter- ritory but to do what I did thoroughly, and I can safely state that there is no line of Packet Seed sold that will be better represented on my territory next spring than WEBSTER'S MAMMOTH PACKETS. The reasons for this result are that I understood my line, and as I had had eight years experience in pioneering another seed business in the same territory, I knew what the trade wanted; this, together with the fact that I have been persistent and thorough in my efforts after busi- ness, will account for the success we attained. The new departure I made in putting up a larger quantity of seed to the packet than had ever been packed before has met almost the universal approval of both the dealer and the consumer. The past season was one of the poorest for the selling of Packet Seed that the trade has experienced in many years, yet it has been a very rare exception for us not to find our cases well sold out, the merchant well pleased and ready to give us a good order for the coming year, so that it has been an easy matter for us to double our business of last year, with but little more work. When a person pays 5c for the standard-sized vege- table packet they cannot help but feel that they have tern taken advantage of and are not getting value re- ceived for their money.
