Darlington Street, Wolverhampton, Early 20th cent. A busy scene in Darlington Street. To the left are Johnson's the Dyers. Further down on the left are the front towers of the Methodist Chapel and the spire of St. Mark's Church in the distance. To the right are the premises of Andre confectionery and chocolates. The image clearly depicts the predominance of motorised vehicles for transport. Not the overhead electric lines for the trams. Darlington Street was cut through in 1821 and named after Lord Darlington, who later sold the land to the Town Commissioners. Streets, Buildings, Photographs
