Train driver Cliff Perry carries his Mash tin into the cabin of Britain's newest locomotive to take it on speed and brake trials. 60163 Tornado was the first main line steam engine to be built in 50 years and was hauling test trains with loads of more than 500 tons at 60mph effortlessly on its first outing on the Great Central Railway between Loughborough and Leicester. The project to construct a Peppercorn class A1 Pacific steam loco from scratch took 18 years and pounds 3 million all raised by donations
