The present tendency in finishingthese leathers is to retain the special characteristics and finish, whichadds much to the attractiveness of such articles. As the unexpendedbalance of the special appropriation for Developing aquatic sourcesof leather was not made available for use during the current fiscalyear, the bureau is restricted by lack of funds as to the service it mightrender in developing this industry.
