Byers, whose name introduces thisrecord, was educated in the district schools andalso pursued a course of study in the commer-cial department of Oskaloosa College underProfessor Givens. His business has reached extensive andprofitable proportions and his labors have beenan element in the improvement .and adornmentof the city. Mr. Byers was married on Christmas dayof 1878 to ]\Iiss Margaret S. Robertson, adaughter of David and Fannie Robertson, ofOskaloosa. Their children are Ernest R.,Harry, Edwin, John David, Margaret andFrancis I\Iason. The last named died in in-fancy and the eldest son is now in Los An-geles, California. The mother departed thislife October 4. 1905, and the funeral se
