Thewooden steeple surmounting thetower was designed and built byStephen Steiner in 1807, and thetown clock was placed in it. Fhesteeple has also contained for a num-ber of years past a chime of bells,upon the leading bell of which theold town clock strikes the the hnial surmounting the steepleis a weather-vane marked with theilate 1807, which for a hundred \earsas shown to the people of Fredericku-ilnection in which the wind blowv.
