Cuts 285 and 286 illustrate the method of takingwell and injured leg on same plate, for comparison : — Bowed Leg mistaken for Fracture. — Noble Smith ^ cites a case ofa child two and a half years old who was thought to have bowed noticed, however, that only one leg was affected, and that the innermalleolus was higher than natural, and that the child felt pain if thelimb were touched. He therefore took a radiograph, which showed afracture of the tibia 4 centimetres above the ankle-joint. The bonewas cut down upon and straightened, and the child made a goodrecovery.
