Rosy-carmine flowers in early summer; 1 foot. PETASITES. Fragrans ( Winter Heliotrope}. Grows about 1 foot high, and produces, fre- quently as early as the middle of March, numerous spikes of strongly heliotrope- scented flowers. An excellent plant for low, moist ground. PHYSOSTEGIA (False Dragon Head). One of the most beautiful of our mid-summer flowering perennials, forming dense bushes 3 to 4 feet high, bearing spikes of delicate tubular flowers. (See cut.) Virginica. Bright but soft pink. — alba. Pure white; very fine. — Speciosa. Very delicate Platycodcn Grandiflora. HARDY GARDEN PINKS. Old favorites, bearing their sweet clove-scented flowers in the greatest profusion during May and June. Comet. Large rosy-red. Delicata. Soft delicate rose; very free. Diamond.
