ICKES-BRAUN MILL CO. 2a30 WABANSIA AVENUE, (Near Western and North ) CHICAGO, ILL. LANCASTER, PA. Club Meeting and Trip. At the April 19 meeting of the Lan- caster County Florists' Club J. Wade Gayley, of Strasburg, read an instruc- tive paper on carnation growing. Mr. Gayley is one of the county's most suc- cessful growers and his observations are of much worth. Matchless and Alice with him are par excellence. It was de- cided not to hold visiting trips until Se])tembcr, on account of the rush of spring work. On motion of Elmer J. Weaver, the club voted to hold its pic- nic in June instead of July. President H. A. Schroyer appointed Harrv K. Rohrer, L. S. Landis and De Barry Heinitsh to arrange for the outing. A committee will call on the express company officials with the idea of rem- edying some causes for complaint. The next meeting will be held May 17, when the club hopes to have the pleasure of a visit from R. Vincent, Jr., of White Marsh, Md. In the afternoon, prior to the meet- ing, a small party of club members vis- ited the florists at Lititz. At C. S. Loeffler's place carnations, sweet peas and snapdragons are Avell grown, the latter having been of special quality throughout the winter and spring. Mr. and Mrs. Locfflcr treated the partv to refreshments. Fred Spinner's j)lace was not called upon on account of the distance. He has had a .successful season and at pres- ent handles ininiciise quantities of vege- table plants. On the return trij) to Lancaster Enos W. Kohr's houses were visited.
