Courtesan for the Third Month, Edo period (1615–1868), ca. 1714, Japan, Polychrome woodblock print (sumizuri-e); ink and color on paper, 22 1/4 x 12 in. ( x cm), Prints, Kaigetsudō Dohan (active 1710–16), Several artists with the surname Kaigetsudō were pupils of Kaigetsudō Ando, a painter who worked in the early 18th century. Except for the fact that Ando was linked to a scandal involving an actor and a woman of the shogun's household and was exiled from Edo in March 1714, little is known about him or his followers
