The two outerparts of each section, however, are intended to be of much thickerstock—say three inches—and will extend only from one leg to the nextadjacent one, thus providing a separate top section or base for eachmachine and its transmitter. The ends of these short sections are designed to rest on the upperhorizontal flanges of the two adjacent cast iron legs in such a mannerthat two of the tops will meet and make a joint in the centre of oneflange, and, if suitable detachable fastenings are provided, it is pos-sible to remove any section with its machine and transmitter undis-.
