There are stop-cock arrange-ments, by means of which either large orsmall volumes of air pressure can becontrolled by the different equipments, pressure, from the straight air-brakevalve, passes through one end of thecheck valve, and pressure from the dis-tributing valve through the other end, thus air pressure from either the dis-tributing valve or straight air-brake valvemust pass through two check valves be-fore entering the brake cylinder, whichserves as an automotic cut-out for allbrake valves. Stop cocks and valves are arranged ina manner that the triple valve can beoperated by means of the H 6 brakevalve or the distributing valve can beoperated with the G 6 brake valve, butin order to operate the valves in thismanner, the cut-out cocks must be turnedby hand. The duplex air-gauges, reading fromleft to right, register the following pres-sures : First gauge, main reservoir andequalizing reservoir, pressure for the H6 brake valve; second gauge, straight air-. SHOP TEST RACK. which permits of accurate leakage testsand also arranges an approximation ofactual conditions encountered in trainservice. All the brake valves can be operatedat the same time and but one brake cyl-inder is used for all valves and all the use of two double-check valvesand the piping arrangement, all equip-ments operate on the one cylinder with-out the necessity of cutting out or clos-ing any stop-cocks, that is, the move-ment of one brake valve handle or ratherthe operation of any one brake automati-cally cuts out all the rest. This is accomplished by locating onecheck valve so that air pressure from thetriple valve enroute to the brake cylin-der passes through one end while pres-sure from the distributing valve passesthrough the other; and the second check-valve is located between the straight air-brake valve and the distributing valvebrake cylinder pipe in
