Tiaong, Philippines. 1st Nov,2024: Exclusive visit to one of most haunted private houses, the Herrera mansion/Doña Concha Umali old stone house. Built by famous Filipino architect Tomas Mapua, the dark past of this architectural masterpiece fuels the most macabre legends. Headless Japanese soldiers, an elderly couple ghost, rattling shackles are reported. The Philippine' lead exorcist warns today that occult practices during Undas invite the devil. Undas commemorates both "Pangangaluluwa"=“gathering ghosts" (PH-style Halloween), All Saints & All Souls Days. Credit: Kevin Izorce/Alamy Live News
Built in 1927, the Herrera Mansion is not a tourist attraction and is not open to the public except with the special permission of its current owner. It's a private house that has been abandoned for many years. For the past ten years, restoration work has been underway and will continue for many years to come. The current owner is a descendant of the original owner's family. The Philippine Undas is an important cultural & religious tradition. Some Filipinos called “nangangaluluwa” cover themselves with white clothes like ghosts & pray from house to house, following the Catholic belief that souls need prayers to pass purgatory.
