POW/MIA Day is observed on the third Friday of each September to honor veterans who were held as prisoners of war or who are missing in action. Cassidy was held by Nazis for 15 months, including a 70-day forced march across parts of Europe. Busier was held at Stalag Luft 4 in Poland for nine months.
