Kantara Castle

Kantara Castle; the most easterly and lowest of the fortifications in the area. It saw its fair share of conflicts during the crusades with Richard the Lionheart winning a famous victory here when he defeated the self-proclaimed king of the island, Isaac Komnenos, after the latter's ill-judged advances against Richard's fiancée Berengaria of Navarre.
