A horse drawn hearse carries the remains of the Jazz legend Lionel Hampton on September 7, 2002 from the Cotton Club in Harlem through the streets of Morningside Heights to his funeral at Riverside Church. Hundreds of family, fans and supporters joined the procession which was led by the Jazz musician Wynton Marsalis with a New Orleans style jazz band. The 94 year-old Hampton passed away last week on August 31, 2002. (© Richard B. Levine)
