In 1887 the Trustees(of whom there are nine) were made elective bypopular vote—three being elected every twoyears, each holding office six years. Dr. Gregory,having resigned the office of Regent in 1880, wassucceeded by Dr. Selim H. Peabody, who hadbeen Professor of Mechanical and Civil Engineer-ing. Dr. Peabody resigned in 1891. The dutiesof Regent were then discharged by Prof. ThomasJ. Burrill until August, 1894, when Dr. AndrewSloan Draper, former State Superintendent
