The famous bronze statue of a Sioux Indian on horseback, "The Scout," can be seen in Penn Valley Park in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. The 10-foot-tall sculpture was created by artist Cyrus E. Dallin and won a gold medal at the 1915 Panama–Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. The following year it went on display in Kansas City, where $15,000 was raised by school children to buy the statue as a permanent memorial to local Native American tribes.
