The North American porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum) is a common mammal in Alaska, found in most forested areas from the North Slope to the Southeast Panhandle. They are not found on the Alaska Peninsula, Kodiak, Nunivak, St. Lawrence Islands, or some Southeast Islands.
