Early Greek kouros (youth). Delphi, Greece, about 570 BC.
Early Greek kouros (youth). Delphi, Greece, about 570 BC The muscled naked figure stands in the schematic 'walking' pose which the early Greek sculptors copied from Egypt. The pose signified motion and life. The marble statue, presented here in a plaster cast was one of a pair excavated in the sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi (now in Delphi Museum).
