Mondino dissection. Coloured historical artwork of the first official human dissection to take place in the medieval period. This was performed at the University of Bologna, Italy, by Mondino de Luizzi (1270-1326). Mondino published his results in 1316. This was the first time human dissection had been offically allowed since the Alexandrian period some 1500 years previously.
