Boxes for flat screen televisions, including a Sony Bravia, are seen in the trash post-Christmas in the New York neighborhood of Chelsea on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Sony Corp. announced that it will sell its 50 percent stake in an LCD joint venture it has with Samsung Electronics. Because of a glut on the market the prices of flat screen televisions have dropped and relentless competition has kept the prices down for consumers although retailers and manufacturers are making less money on sales.
