The shrine to Æthelthryth in Ely Cathedral. Æthelthryth aka Etheldreda or Audrey (636 - 679 AD) is the name for the Anglo-Saxon saint who was an East Anglian princess, a Fenland and Northumbrian queen and Abbess of Ely. Ely Cathedral has its origins in AD 672 when St Etheldreda built an abbey church. The present building dates back to 1083, and cathedral status was granted it in 1109.
