These standards formpart of the general design and are installedupon piers in the handrail they are ade-quately reinforced to withstand a horizon-tal pull of pounds applied at a point26 feet above the sidewalk level. The handrail upon which these stand-ards rest is of sturdy construction 13jinches thick at the base and 3 feet, 6^ 2inches in height reinforced and constructedin a way to reduce to a minimum the ten-dency to crack which most handrails onbridge structures have a tendency to do.
