Bordaloue from nineteenth century England, made from white ceramic with a blue floral pattern. The bordaloue was a type of chamber pot which was specially designed for women; it is oval in shape with a lip at one end and a handle at the other. This design would have been useful for travel, allowing women to relieve themselves without having to disturb their fashionable extensive skirts.
