After stalking for over an hour, this cheetah ran into the impala herd and managed to isolate an unlucky female. NABOISHO CONSERVANCY, KENYA: THIS BRAVE impala was captured literally staring death in the face when it went head to head with this one-hundred-and-ten-pound cheetah. In one photo, the 90-pound impala could be seen staring directly into the eyes of its predator, as the terrified mammal attempted to scramble to freedom. A second showed that its efforts were in vain however, as the cheetah hauled its prey to the ground, and into a deadly chokehold. Eco tour operator Karoline Hood Dennis from London, UK, took the photos whilst in the In Naboisho Conservancy, Kenya. She captured the remarkable images from just 15 feet away, using a Nikon 3100. Cheetahs have such good eyesight that they can spot prey from over three miles away. / Karoline Hood
