Together they man-aged the internal affairs of the Institution as joint superin-tendents until November, 1891, when Mr. Ashcroft died of con-sumption. At the general annual meeting the following resolution ofcondolence was passed : Moved by Mr. E. Mackay, seconded by Mrs. J. W. Mackedie—That this meeting desires to place on record their deep regret at thedeath of the associate superintendent, Mr. J. Imrie Ashcroft, the loss of. JOHN IMRIE ASHCROFT. whose much valued services will be greatly felt by the managers, staff,and pupils. Mr. Ashcrof ts abilities as a teacher of the deaf and dumb andthe blind, the interest he took in their welfare and advancement during themany years he was connected with the Institute, together with his highsense of the duties and responsibilities connected with this branch ofeducation, make his loss a void that will be difficult iofill; andtheywould also express to his widow their heartfelt sympathy with^her inthis her heavy bereavement; and that the secretary be instructed tosend a copy of this resolution to Mrs. Ashcroft and the press.
