A smallsword for high-ranking officers., Grooved, triangular thrusting blade. The upper third bears etched, gilded decoration on a blued background. The blade is stained with some pitting on the ricasso. Fire-gilded hilt with extremely high quality fine relief work. The guard plate shows a Gallic cock between cornucopias. The grip has mother-of-pearl grip scales and a superimposed cartouche on the obverse side. Lions head pommel. Some of the leather scabbard has been preserved.
