Angora goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a variety of domestic goat that thrives in the arid Karoo area of South Africa, with its combination of hot, dry summers, cold winters and semi-desert vegetation. South Africa is the biggest global producer of mohair, the fleece of the Angora goat. Angora goats are shorn twice a year. A single goat produces between four and five kilograms of fleece per year. Mohair is considered one of the world's most lustrous and exclusive sustainable natural fibres. Photographed near Aberdeen, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
