This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Nepenthes Mensae, Mars, satellite image. North is at lower left. This is a perspective stereo-colour image of what is thought to be a river delta formation, in the Nepenthes Mensae region of Mars. The fan-shaped structure (about 300 metres high) is at the mouth of a valley (background). This valley and the delta are thought to have formed due to erosion and deposition of sediments by large outflows of groundwater. The image data is from the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board the European Space Agency's (ESA) Mars Express Orbiter.
