Wave-cut platform, Portencross, Scotland
The inclined strata of the wave-cut platform below the sandstone cliffs at Portencross Castle, on the west coast of Scotland. This type of sandstone is known by geologists as Lower Old Red Sandstone. The Firth of Clyde can also be seen in the image.
