This was the "House of David" baseball team, circa 1921. In 1903, Benjamin and Mary Purnell founded a communal religious society in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The baseball team originally competed against local area towns in Michigan, but they soon expanded to play exhibition games against regional clubs, semi-pro teams and even professional teams. Several variations of this team traveled throughout the United States playing baseball in order to spread the word, & raise money for, their founders' religious colony.
