Bengalese eagle owl. Close-up of the head of a Bengalese eagle owl (Bubo bengalensis). This bird is found throughout the mainland of the Indian sub-continent. It inhabits rocky hills, semi deserts and wooded country with ravines. The Bengalese eagle owl, which grows to lengths of 50 centimetres, is mostly nocturnal. It hunts small mammals, mainly rodents, and mid-sized birds. It will also eat frogs, crustaceans and large insects.
