The major opposition group in Idlib, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, previously known as Al-Nusra Front, controls most of the territory in Idlib. So far, they have opposed any possible deal with the Syrian government showing their readiness to put up a hard fight and to fight until the end. UN officials have warned that an offensive on Idlib would trigger a new wave of displacement for 800,000 people and have appealed to both sides in the conflict to find a solution that spares civilians
